How do you prevent the inner Mold from touching the side of the outer Mold?
Great question! We’ve defined a subtle but very effective “nub”/indent at the bottom center position of the Outer Mold so that when you drop the Inner Mold inside, it naturally fits right into place i.e. right in the center of the Outer Mold. Voila, there’s your perfect Ice Straw with a perfectly-define hole!

How do you actually make an Ice Straw?
Simply pour water into the Ice Straw mold, put on the lid, stick in the freezer for 30-45 minutes, take it out of the freezer, squeeze out the ice straw, and voila, your very own ice straw made of 100% ice - no (plastic) strings attached!

How long do I have to wait for the straw to freeze completly?
Depending on the temperature of your freezer, ice straws can be ready in as soon as 30 minutes at a temperature no warmer than –5°C / 23°F. Anything warmer and expect your ice straw to be ready in no longer than 45-60 minutes in the freezer!

How long do I have to wait after taking out the Ice Straw from the freezer for it to defrost / be squeezed out of the Mold?
Naturally, ice coming straight out of the freezer will want to stick to the mold. With that said, by just simply holding the mold for a few seconds with both hands, the body heat of your hands will expedite the defrosting process, loosening the friction between the ice and the mold and allowing you to go straight into the squeezing phase within less than a minute!

How long does an Ice Straw last?
Depending on your outside temperature, your ice straw can last up to 5 minutes! We tested it in an outdoor heat of 32°C / 90°F with a glass of slightly cooled cranberry juice (previously refrigerated) and the ice straw lasted for a solid 3 minutes (see videos above!). Of course, if you put ice in your drink at the same time, your ice straw can last even longer (5 minutes even)!

Your ice straws don’t just have to be made out of water! They can be made out of juice, chocolate, coffee, or pretty much anything you can pour as a liquid into the mold and freeze!

Do I really have to make an ice straw for every time I want to use one?
Absolutely not! The beauty of the ice straw mold is that you can pre-freeze and pre-squeeze as many ice straws as want! Got space in your freezer? Why not pre-freeze 10 straws for that party next week, or for that breakfast smoothy you like to make on a daily basis? Technically, the more molds you have, the faster you can make Ice Straws all at once!

Does the ice straw cool the drink enough to be noticeable?
Oh yes, it definitely does! Just picture it as 3-4 blocks of ice cubes, that’s about exactly what the volume of one Boba or Classic Ice Straw model equates to! So yeah, after the equivalent of a few blocks of ice have melted (or are melting), your drink really begins to become cool!

How often should I clean the Mold and how?
If using water to make your ice straws then you shouldn’t have to wash them more than every half dozen times of usage. If you plan on freezing more “tasteful” i.e. sugary or ingredient-rich liquids then you might like to consider cleaning out your mold after every use. Simply do so by pouring water and soap (or just dishwasher liquid) into the mold and with two hands repeatedly squeeze the mold enough times to make the cleaning-up liquid/mixture create bubbles.

Yes, you most definitely can! The beauty of the ice straw is that yeah, it stays as ice in the freezer! Prefreeze as many ice straws as your heart desires so that when that drink date does come around, you’ve got a stack of ice straws just waiting to be used!

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
